Chairman and Founder
John’s extensive experience in the finance and stockbroking industry spans over two decades having spearheaded the firm’s business development strategy for over a decade. During his career he has served in a variety of roles at Hoare Govett, Carr Sheppards, Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. and Williams de Broe where he was a senior investment manager until 2002.
John has a successful track record in the private equity and IPO markets having provided corporate finance advice and brokerage services to a range of international companies which have been listed on exchanges in the UK, Canada, Europe, North America and Australasia.
Samantha Esqulant - CEO
Head of Risk Management
Samantha started her career in finance in 2001 having previously worked at LCF Rothschild Group (today Edmond de Rothschild), Barclays Capital and The Bank of New York Mellon.
Samantha joined GIS in April 2013. She is responsible for devising, implementing and monitoring procedures and controls within the business in order to minimize and control the risks and exposures the firm and its clients’ face.
Sean Minks - CBDO
Chief Business Development Officer
Sean completed his bachelor's degree at the University of Technology, Sydney and holds an MSc in Finance.
He has a wealth of experience in the securities industry spanning numerous markets with a specialisation in the US, the UK and Western Europe.
Sean joined GIS in 2012 and has a comprehensive knowledge of all matters related to the organisation. He is responsible for identifying new sales prospects, driving business growth and enhancing product development, with a particular focus on new technology.
Sander van den Wall Bake
Sander studied Financial Economics at City University London. He has gained broking and investment experience at various institutions including ICAP and the EBRD.
Sander joined GIS in October 2013 and provides dedicated support to the trading settlements and investment management divisions. He is responsible for multi-asset trade executions providing European/ American/ Asian coverage, equity and fixed income trade settlement, ad-hoc client reporting and daily cash settlement transaction reconciliation across custodian and prime broker accounts.
Sander is progressing towards further professional qualifications including IMC and CFA.
Suki has been in the financial services industry for over 16 years and has experience of working in various corporate organisations.
Suki joined GIS in 2008 and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the accounts and works closely with the external auditors and tax professionals.
Mayan studied Electronics, Computer and Systems Engineering at Loughborough University. He worked at PA Consulting group and London Clearing House designing Risk Margining Systems.
Mayan joined GIS in 2012 and is responsible for the GIS Index Option Strategy. He has experience in trading and managing investments for over 15 years with focus on derivatives.
Paras Shah studied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics and Operational Research at the University of Warwick. He has over 7 years’ experience in trading derivative strategies as well as managing investments. While he was working within the Banking and Capital Markets sector he also qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PwC.
Paras joined GIS in 2012.
Akshay is an investment advisor for the GIS Options Strategy since 2017.
Akshay received a Masters in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London in 2013 and has completed the Investment Management Certificate qualification and received the CFA charter in November 2017. Before joining GIS he traded currency and equity index futures based on short term technical analysis for a year.
After his University studies he joined the graduate scheme at BlackRock as part of the Portfolio Analytics Group, where he focused on developing, maintaining and automating the firm’s risk reporting capabilities across various asset classes.
Angelos has graduated with a BA (Hons) from Bristol Business School, UWE and holds the Investment Advice Diploma (Securities and Derivatives).
Angelos started his career at Morgan Stanley's Private Wealth Management division in 1998 where he progressed to form, grow and co-run a team servicing families, family offices and small institutions from Russia, Cyprus, Greece, Germany and the UK. He left in 2011 as a VP to join JP Morgan’s Private Bank in London as a VP and focused on the Greek and Cypriot market until the end of 2013 when he joined Azure Wealth, a boutique wealth management firm in London.
Angelos joined GIS in 2016 as the head of the investment management department, responsible for the growth of the wealth management division.
Brunel studied Software Engineering at London’s Imperial Collage where he graduated with an MEng degree in 2002. Since then, he has gained extensive financial knowledge and trading experience working at several organisations including JP Morgan, UBS and Bank of America.
Over the past few years, Brunel has evolved into a Quantitative Portfolio Manager by combining his proprietary trading skills, statistical methods and coding experience. This is his primary role at GIS, as well as developing and supporting applications that are used by the firm to streamline and automate their procedures.
Alan has 12 years’ experience in the financial services industry, primarily in operational functions including custody and prime brokerage settlements, reconciliations, securities lending and non-mandatory conversions, providing him with extensive knowledge in front to back trade flows. This experience was gained whilst working in large corporations including Bank of New York Mellon & UBS. Alan joined GIS in September 2016 as a senior settlement analyst/oversight and is responsible for the full life cycle of each trade as well as continual process enhancements.
Glenn Palmer has spent 20 years in the private wealth management and trading sector servicing the requirements of high net worth clients. His career spans periods at institutions such as Barclays Wealth, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, Lehman Brothers, Oppenheimer and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Glenn is FCA CF30 registered, CISI PCIAM Level 6 qualified and is also FINRA registered in the United States. Glenn is responsible for the day-to-day operational requirements of the business and product development.
Sudhari has over 15 years experience in the Financial Services Industry working as a Trade Support Analyst with both HSBC and JPMorgan.
She has additional experience in Bond settlements through Euroclear, Kassenverein and all Europe/ Emerging Markets.
Sudhari is currently responsible for settling client’s trades, dealing with queries and maintains counterparty information and relations.
Joel joined GIS in August 2017 and brings with him 20 years’ experience in the financial sector.
He started his career in 1997 as a runner on the LIFFE floor and since then he has gained his experience from working in large corporations including BNP Paribas, Credit Suisse, ING and Scotiabank.
Joel has extensive knowledge of operational functions including Prime Brokerage settlement, CFD’s, Stock Lending and Collateral Management.
Billy has over 15 years experience working in large financial organisations such as Jefferies.
Billy joined GIS in November 2012 as a Relationship Manager, to monitor client’s accounts and being responsible for the full life cycle of each trade. Billy is an experienced settlements analyst covering the US and EMEA Markets. He also supports his clients with trade execution.
Ivana has a master’s degree in Law and Business from the University of Law in London. She started her legal career in 2012 working at Gazprom Marketing and Trading Limited. Before that Ivana worked at DP World, Picfords and the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Ivana joined GIS in February 2018 working as a Paralegal to provide dedicated support on legal, compliance and regulatory matters.
Alyona holds her BSc in Physics and has recently completed her MSc in Mathematical Trading and Finance from Cass Business School. As a part of the MSc award, she wrote her dissertation where she revealed the new statistical relationship between oil prices and stock prices of clean energy companies.
She joined GIS in February 2018. Previously, she did research analysis on cryptocurrency markets.
Ryan has 9 years’ experience in Finance, starting in the Settlements team at Edmond de Rothschild where he was settling Equities and Bonds through CREST, Clearstream, Euroclear and DTC, as well as other roles such as Supervisor and Reporting officer.
He also has a high proficiency in Excel and VBA to automate existing procedures and undertake projects to adapt to new business and regulatory requirements.
Ryan joined GIS in October 2017 to work in the reconciliations department. His day-to-day roles include reconciling trading activity and accounting, MiFID II reporting, and development work.
Daniel has 18 years’ experience in the financial service industry, the primary focus of which has been in operational functions including settlement across a wide range of markets and collateral management for securities lending, repurchase agreements and equity derivatives.
He has also worked in various trade support roles for securities borrowing and lending, and prime brokerage which has given him specific knowledge of front to back trade flows.
Daniel started his career at Cater Allen and has experience working for institutions including Santander, Jefferies and Scotiabank.
Raihan completed his bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Management at University of London.
He has extensive experience in the financial and investment services industry with a specialisation in client money reporting and bank reconciliations.
Raihan joined GIS in 2018 and has a comprehensive knowledge of trade settlements, forex and client accounts.
John has over 20 years’ experience in the Financial Services industry performing a variety of roles across the back, middle and front office including a number of years as an equity trader.
This experience has given him an in depth knowledge of front to back trade execution and settlement processes.
John joined GIS in August 2017 as a Client Relationship Manager
Barry Matthews has over 30 years experience in the finance industry, first working on the market floor as a dealer. He worked as a financial journalist, initially with the Stock Exchange Gazette and then the Investors Chronicle, and subsequently freelanced for several provincial newspapers. After re-entering the market, he became a member and continued to deal on the floor of the market, while at the same time building a private client business, which he continues to this day.
Barry has a vast wealth of experience gained from working at several firms that have been taken over, including George Henderson and Stancliffe Todd and Hodgson. His last roles were with S P Angel for ten years, and then Redmayne and
Barry joined GIS in 2017.
